WASHINGTON — Kurt Cobain's daughter, Frances Bean Cobain, and Tony Hawk's eldest son, Riley Hawk, quietly got married earlier this month with a music legend officiating the ceremony, according to multiple media reports.
According to documents obtained by TMZ, the couple tied the knot Oct. 7 in Los Angeles after getting a marriage license in September in San Diego County.
While the couple has yet to publicly announce their nuptials, a representative for Riley's father, skateboarding icon Tony Hawk, confirmed the news to PEOPLE on Tuesday following TMZ's report.
TMZ also reported the marriage license revealed the ceremony was officiated by R.E.M. frontman Michael Stipe, who is also Frances' godfather.
The 31-year-old daughter of Courtney Love and late Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain confirmed her relationship with Riley Hawk, 30, early last year.
After taking a year-long break from social media, Frances Bean Cobain returned to Instagram in Jan. 2022 and shared glimpses of her relationship with the professional skateboarder in a post about moments that brought her "a great amount of joy." Within the slideshow was a shot of the couple on a boat with Riley's father and stepmother, Tony and his wife Catherine Goodman.
Frances Bean Cobain was previously married to musician Isaiah Silva, until she filed for divorce in March 2016 after less than two years of marriage. According to multiple media reports, the former couple ended up fighting over ownership of one of Kurt Cobain's guitars, which Frances lost to Silva as part of the divorce settlement.
