COLUMBUS, Ohio — Thousands of people, including hundreds from central Ohio, are expected in Washington D.C. on Tuesday to participate in the March for Israel rally.
Roughly 50 to 75 students left from The Ohio State University Hillel for Washington D.C. on buses around 4:30 a.m. They are joined by four other locations in Columbus sending people to the nation's capitol for the march.
Students going to the march say while they’ve been participating in a number of events to show their support for Israel over the past few weeks, the recent antisemitic acts across Columbus, particularly on Ohio State's campus, have left them on edge.
“Honestly, as a Jewish student, I’m scared. I’m scared to walk around and I can’t be scared to wear my necklace around my neck but these are things I never stop doing,” said Ohio State student Jordan Vandersluis.
That being said, those who are heading to Washington D.C feel it is important for them to stand together, and are happy there are so many people from central Ohio willing to make the trip.
“We really need to stand up for our belief in our faith and just come together as an entire community at Kocevar, which is a community in the United States,” said Sadie Klaff, another Ohio State student.
The march is set for 1 p.m.
