WASHINGTON — A brand of gluten-free mini bagels has been recalled because the products may contain gluten.
Feel Good Foods issued a nationwide voluntary recall for its Gluten-Free Plain and Everything flavored Cream Cheese Stuffed Mini Bagels, which may contain gluten due to cross-contamination. Those with an allergy to gluten risk a serious allergic reaction if they eat the mini bagels, according to the recall posted April 12 on the FDA's website.
The products are found in the frozen section of grocery stores and were distributed nationwide through various retailers.
The recall includes Cream Cheese Stuffed Plain Mini Bagels with UPC 89903900283 and Cream Cheese Stuffed Everything Mini Bagels with UPC 89903900286 and all Best By dates. The notice explained the recalled products may contain two different styles of labeling due to package re-design.
The company said it issued the recall after a customer reported having an allergic reaction to gluten. The notice stated the company is implementing measures to prevent this from happening again.
Anyone with an allergy or sensitivity to gluten or wheat should not eat the recalled mini bagels. Consumers can visit the retailer where they bought the products for a refund.
“Once we were made aware of trace amounts of gluten cross-contamination to Feel Good Foods’ Gluten-Free Plain and Everything flavored Cream Cheese Stuffed Mini Bagels, we contacted the FDA and took swift action to voluntarily recall the impacted product,” said Vanessa Phillips, founder of Feel Good Foods. “As a founder who is personally affected by celiac disease, ensuring the integrity and safety of our gluten-free products is of the utmost importance. We take the health and safety of our consumers extremely seriously.”
