DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — Days after a father and his two young daughters were killed in a horrific car accident involving a tractor-trailer in DeKalb County, the family's 10-year-old son has now tragically died, too.
Taraja Ramsess, a 41-year-old stuntman actor known for his roles in films such as Marvel's "The Avengers" and "The Black Panther," was on his way home Halloween night when the accident happened along I-20 eastbound just before midnight, according to his family.
His 13-year-old daughter and newborn baby girl were killed in the accident. Two other children were also in the car and were rushed to the hospital where they were critically hurt, DeKalb Police said. On Sunday, police said the 10-year-old boy had sadly passed away.
The crash happened after an 18-wheeler and the truck that Ramsess was driving collided. A photo of the scene showed just how bad the wreck was.
John Stephens said he worked with Ramsess for years and watched him move into the film industry from the art department to a grip to a camera person to a stuntman. Stephens said his number one priority was always his family.
"Kind, caring, loving, thoughtful, respectful, exemplary person... just one of the best people I've ever known," Stephens said. "I'm gonna miss him he's a big part of my life my heart my soul I'm gonna miss him."
Renowned film director Ava DuVernay took to Instagram to express her heartfelt condolences for Taraja's family and the impact he has had on the film industry.
DuVernay said Taraja was a part of their crew family at ARRAY. He loved making movies and TV shows. He also held many positions in the industry over the years, from working in the art department to a grip to a camera person to a stuntman, DuVernay wrote.
"I remember one day on set, we didn’t have enough Black background actors for a key scene. I had to recruit my crew members to be on-camera. Taraja was the first to say yes," DuVernay wrote in the post.
DeKalb Police's Traffic Special Unit is still investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash.
An online fundraiser has also been set up for the Ramsess family.
