Marion County Man Sentenced To Life In Prison For Murder

Raymond Bertuzzi was sentenced to life in prison for his role in a murder- for-hire plot. Find out the latest.

A Marion County man was sentenced Tuesday to life in prison without the chance for parole.

Raymond Bertuzzi, 29, was found guilty last week of killing Amy Aldrich.

Bertuzzi was accused of killing Aldrich as part of a murder-for-hire conspiracy.

On Tuesday, Aldrich’s mother talked of the moment she learned her daughter had been murdered.

“I said Lord I will serve you greater than I have ever served you before, and when I found out she was gone, I dropped to my knees, and I said Lord I will still serve you greater,” said Margaret Reed.

Reed said that gave her strength through the trial and at Tuesday’s sentencing for Bertuzzi.

Amy Aldrich, a mother of three, was murdered in February of last year. The father of Aldrich's daughter, Bo Cook, hired Rayond Bertuzzi to kill Amy.

Cook pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter in September. Last week, a jury found Bertuzzi guilty of murder.

Before the judge handed down a sentence, Amy's mother addressed the court.

“I want Raymond to know that I love him, and that I have forgiven him and that I truly, truly, will be praying for his salvation,” said Reed.

You could hear the cries of relief when the judge sentenced Bertuzzi to life without the possibility of parole.

But it was clear there is still a lot of pain.

“I tried to be a Christian too, just like my sister but I don't understand, and I'm angry,” said Brenda Alrich, Amy’s aunt.

And Amy's aunt said the family worries about her three kids.

"She was a beautiful girl, a wonderful mother and her kids are going to suffer dearly for the rest of their lives,” said Brenda.

But Amy's mother said she knows one thing for sure.

"No matter what happens He is in control,” she said.

And says believes, in time, they will all be OK.

Bo Cook is currently serving 20 years in prison for hiring Bertuzzi as a hitman.
