Police said a man will face armed robbery charges after he tried to hold up a convenience storewith a piece of a palm tree.
The robbery attempt was captured by the store's surveillance camera.
The surveillance video showed the man walk in the store with the palm frond in one hand, and apair of flip-flops in the other.
The man, who had pulled his shirt over his head, waved the frond and tapped it on the counterwhile demanding money from the clerk.
Another customer eventually grabbed a bar stool from behind the counter and scared the man outof the store.
Police said George Olivieri was captured a few blocks away.
Olivieri made his first court appearance on Thursday and was ordered held on $20,000 bond.
