Man Charged In Hit-Skip Crash That Hurt 2 Pedestrians

A man who police say has a history of drunken-driving convictions faces a new charge after a hit-skip crash on the city's north side.

A man has been charged in connection with a hit-skip crash that injured two people on Tuesdaynight.

David Rice, 49, was arrested and charged with drunken driving, although additional charges werepending further investigation, 10TV's Danielle Elias reported.

Rice is accused of striking Phillip Patrick and Makia Kambon with his car as they walked acrossKing Avenue at about 10 p.m.  Rice failed to stop after striking them, police said.

Patrick was transported to The Ohio State University Medical Center in critical condition,police said.

His family said he suffered a punctured lung, a damaged spleen, and head and face injuries.

Kambon was treated by paramedics at the scene.

Police said that Rice and his car were located several miles away from the scene. 

Records showed Rice has four prior convictions for drunken driving-relatedoffenses, Columbus police said.
