Lockdowns at two Big Walnut Schools were lifted after sheriff's deputies received a report of a weapon in the area.
According to Big Walnut Local Schools Superintendent Steve Mazzi, a child with a gun was spotted in a neighborhood between General Rosecrans Elementary School and Big Walnut Middle School around 7:30 a.m.
Authorities searched but did not locate a child with a weapon.
During the investigation, middle school students were kept inside the school while elementary school students were transported to a staging area.
Buses carrying elementary school students were diverted to the high school from their normal routes. Parents received a call saying that children who walk to school should stay home until further notice.
Investigators did not search school buildings. There were no reports of injuries.
