WORTHINGTON, Ohio — The Worthington Board of Education voted Tuesday night to move to a hybrid learning plan starting on September 29. Students began the school year under an all remote learning model on Monday.

The measure passed with a unanimous vote of 5-0.

On the board's agenda Tuesday was a recommended motion "to approve a transition from the remote learning model to the hybrid learning model on September 14, 2020 and going forward to provide at least two weeks advance notice to families when transitioning from a remote learning model to a hybrid model.”

The board did say the plan to begin the hybrid learning model could change depending on recommendations made by Columbus Public Health.

Under the district's hybrid model, half a school's student population will be in attendance each school day.

Students who are assigned to “GROUP A” will attend school in person Monday and Wednesday of each week, while students who are assigned to “GROUP B” will attend school in person Tuesday and Thursday of each week.

On Fridays, Groups A and B will be rotated approximately every other week according to a posted calendar.

A restart plan previously approved by the school board stated that students would learn remotely through the end of October.
