MARION COUNTY, Ohio — Homeowners in the village of Prospect say the rain Wednesday night was something many hadn't seen in more than a decade.
"I've never seen anything like it," says Amanda Boyd. "An hour later my whole yard was under water."
Her home is now an island surrounded by water which is nearly two feet deep.
"This is probably the deepest I've seen it," she says.
She lives about 50 feet from the Scioto River, which spilled over its banks and flooded homes and streets throughout the village in Marion County.
Jim Wallace borrowed a pump from the Village to help get the water away from his home. He said he started pumping around 6 and got the water to go down about 2 feet.
Flood water drowned his garden once full of peppers, tomatoes, zucchini and cucumbers.
"(If you didn't have this pump what would happen?) Oh, these houses would be full of water," he said.
Most of Thursday was dry until about 3 p.m. when it started to rain again.
The ground is so saturated, there is nowhere for it go. In the past two days, they've had about 8 inches of rain in Prospect with more to come.
