Woman hospitalized after hit-and-run in Hilltop neighborhood

According to Columbus Police Sgt. Joe Albert, officers were called to the area of Ryan and Walsh avenues around 2:30 a.m. for a report of a hit-and-run.

COLUMBUS, Ohio — A woman was hospitalized after a hit-and-run crash in the Hilltop neighborhood early Wednesday morning.

According to Columbus Police Sgt. Joe Albert, officers were called to the area of Ryan and Walsh avenues around 2:30 a.m. for a report of a hit-and-run.

Officers arrived at the scene and found a woman suffering from significant injuries. She was taken to Grant Medical Center in critical condition. The woman is expected to survive, according to the Columbus Division of Police.

Police say a red 2019-2021 Chevy Cruze hit the woman, who was walking in the road.

Albert said officers searched the area and obtained surveillance video of the vehicle speeding on Ryan Avenue. The video did not capture the crash, but it could be heard.

"The vehicle should have some very significant driver-side damage, including missing a rearview mirror on the driver side and other pieces that are still here at the scene," Albert said.

The Accident Investigation Unit is leading the investigation into the crash.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police at 614-645-4767 or Central Ohio Crime Stoppers at 614-461-8477.
