COLUMBUS, Ohio — A Columbus woman is mourning the loss of her husband after he was killed in a crash involving a stolen vehicle on Saturday.
The Franklin County Sheriff's Office said that a stolen Kia ran through a stop sign near Hilliard Rome Road and hit a Honda.
Matthew Moshi was the driver of the Honda. He was just 36 years old.
His wife, Qualitee, said her family is heartbroken by this loss. He leaves behind two kids under the age of 3.
“To not have those days anymore for my children is very hard to see. They won’t have those moments with their father,” said Qualitee.
Qualitee said her husband should have never died.
“This was a senseless, reckless tragedy,” she said.
The sheriff’s office said the driver of the Kia was a 15-year-old who was with three other juveniles. The teen driver is charged with receiving stolen property, but the sheriff’s office said that charge could be upgraded.
“I hope they are properly charged and they take accountability. But, not just them, but their parents and their family take accountability for their children’s actions,” said Qualitee.
Losing Matthew has not truly set in for Qualitee. She said Matthew was a kind, and loving father.
“He was a big family guy. He loved video games, comic books, he loved football and soccer,” she said.
She said Matthew’s relationship with his two kids was so special. He was proud of them and always looking forward to spending time together as a family.
“They were very in tune with their father. Very much daddy kids,” said Qualitee.
Qualitee said she knows the hardest days are ahead: the first holiday without her husband, anniversaries and birthdays. She wishes her husband was still here.
“Each morning is a new step towards a new day,” she said.
