WESTERVILLE, Ohio — A central Ohio teenager is bringing his artistic talents to the world stage after he was given the opportunity to create a T-shirt design for clothing brand PacSun.
Sahr Julian Rashid Noah, a junior at Westerville Central High School, is known by his friends and teachers as a "profound artist." Since the age of 12, he has created T-shirt designs, logos and posters for local streetwear brands.
After attending the Columbus Fashion Alliance's Future of Fashion internship program last summer, Rashid Noah was invited by CFA's director to submit designs to PacSun.
Initially, he didn't know what design to make, so he said that he procrastinated. In the end, that procrastination is what ended up as the inspiration for the design.
"I was really nervous and I didn't know what to make. I was comparing myself to all the other shirts they had already and I was like 'what am I going to do that's really going to wow these people,'" Rashid Noah said. "I just started sketching how I felt at the moment and this is what I created at that moment. Just telling myself to stop procrastinating and just do it."
Just two days before his deadline, he designed the shirt. The front reads "stop procrastinating" and the back reads "time is awaiting" with a figure of a man looking impatiently at his watch.
The tee is part of a collaboration between PacSun and UPRISERS, a community-driven streetwear brand dedicated to amplifying impactful and authentic stories of activists, trendsetters and warriors of change to mobilize and transform communities.
Rashid Noah's t-shirt design is on sale now.
