WBNS-10TV names Ashlee Baracy Chief Meteorologist

You can watch Ashlee's forecasts weekdays on 10TV during the 5, 6 and 11 p.m. newscasts.

WBNS-TV is pleased to announce that Ashlee Baracy has been named 10TV’s Chief Meteorologist effective immediately. She was previously Morning Meteorologist at the station.

“Ashlee brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to her new role as Chief Meteorologist. Her professionalism, grace under pressure, and team approach are vital to keeping viewers safe and informed,” says Jennifer Nickels, 10TV News Director. “She is a role model for many in our newsroom and community, sharing her positive message of female empowerment and kindness. I’m very excited for her future here in Columbus.”

“From the moment I moved to Central Ohio, it has felt like home. Over the past year, the community has embraced and supported my growing family,” says Baracy. “It is a great honor to serve this community as WBNS’ Chief Meteorologist. In my role, I hope to continue inspiring young women to pursue careers in science, and be a positive role model for balancing life and family.”

Born and raised in southeast Michigan, Ashlee Baracy is no stranger to the region’s fickle weather and brings more than a decade of experience to her role at 10TV.

Ashlee earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of Michigan, her Broadcast Meteorology Certification from Mississippi State University and holds a Master of Science degree from Eastern Michigan University. In 2018, Ashlee was awarded “Best Weathercast” by the Ohio Associated Press Media Editors. In 2019, she was voted Best Television Weather Person in the Columbus Dispatch’s “CBUS Top Picks.”

Ashlee’s proudest job is being a mother. She and her husband welcomed their first child in August 2019. During her pregnancy, Ashlee inspired a conversation about body positivity through her experiences with body shaming. Her message went viral making headlines in the New York Post, People Magazine and on the the “Today” Show. She is passionate about being a voice for the voiceless and giving back to her community, volunteering for the Komen Race for the Cure and The American Cancer Society in honor of her parents who are both survivors.
