Community of parents, caregivers offer advice on how to conquer challenges

The Positive Parenting Program tackles everything from tantrums and battles over bedtime to disobedience and aggressive behavior.

COLUMBUS, Ohio — “Triple P”  may sound like the name of a new beauty or nutritional supplement.  In fact, it’s the name of a powerful group for moms, dads and caregivers called “Positive Parenting Program” at Nationwide Children’s Hospital.

The group tackles everything from tantrums and battles over bedtime to disobedience and aggressive behavior.  Parents and caregivers of children from birth to 12 years old work together with community partners to network and connect over common parenting issues and challenging behavior.

Experts from Triple P do not instruct on how to parent. Instead, they share practical techniques that can be applied to your family’s needs and values.

“Sometimes parents feel like they are the only person having this problem,” said Nationwide Children’s Hospital Clinical Lead Supervisor Kate Roush. “Coming together with other parents and learning that it's normal, it's common can really help you feel more motivated and less alone and isolated.”

Triple P, which is run by Nationwide Children’s, works with community partners to offer free online parenting support and phone-based services.

The services are available in 13 counties:

  • Crawford
  • Fayette
  • Franklin
  • Richland
  • Delaware
  • Morrow -
  • Fairfield
  • Knox
  • Licking
  • Madison
  • Marion
  • Union
  • Pickaway
