NEWARK, Ohio — The line was out the door for tours of the former headquarters of Longaberger's baskets Sunday afternoon.
Visitors got a rare glimpse inside the Big Basket building, which has been vacant for years.
Tours started at 1 p.m. and over 100 people were lined up soon after it started.
Dozens waited for the line to die down by chowing down. Thanks to a bunch of food trucks and tents, visitors could also picnic in front of the picnic basket.
Everyone having lunch and waiting in line got to enjoy live music.
Once inside, former employees and volunteers took visitors around the first few floors of the building.
The money raised from the tours goes to Heritage Ohio, an organization focused on preserving and revitalizing historic Ohio buildings and Main Streets.
The organization is trying to get the famous basket building on the National Register of Historic Places.
