UPPER ARLINGTON, Ohio — All buildings at Upper Arlington Schools were briefly placed on lockdown Thursday morning after district officials said they received threats of a shooting targeting a middle school.
Upper Arlington Schools Superintendent Robert Hunt wrote a letter to parents, stating that Hastings Middle School received a phone call Thursday morning about a possible school shooting.
Hunt said the Upper Arlington Police Department was notified of the threat and responded to the school.
The district implemented a full lockdown at the middle school and placed a secured perimeter lockdown at the other buildings in the district.
In another update to families, Hunt said that police found the threat not credible. The district has returned to normal operations and there will be increased police presence at all school buildings.

Dear staff and parents/guardians,
We have received an update from police that the threatening phone call received at Hastings this morning has been determined to be a hoax. Due to this update, we will be resuming normal operations at all of our schools.
We understand that this has been a stressful situation for our students, staff and families. We apologize for the multiple calls, but we felt it was important to keep everyone as up to date as possible due to the nature of this situation.
Staff members will be checking in on students today, and our school counselors will be available for anyone who needs additional support.
We are incredibly grateful for the strong partnership of our staff, school resource officers and Upper Arlington police in supporting the safety of our students and everyone in our buildings today and every day.
Sincerely,
Robert Hunt, Ph.D.
Superintendent, Upper Arlington Schools
