COLUMBUS, Ohio — Nearly two dozen CSX train cars derailed in Logan County Saturday evening, according to the sheriff’s office.
The 20-car derailment happened around 5:15 p.m. near state Route 47 and Township Road 123 in West Mansfield. The Logan County Sheriff's Office says they were carrying grain.
Pictures taken of the derailment show grain spilled on the road and tracks and multiple train cars crashed into each other.
No injuries were reported.
Drivers are asked to avoid County Road 142 between state Route 47 and Township Road 123 north of West Mansfield. The roads will be closed for the next week, according to the sheriff's office.
A spokesperson for CSX provided a statement saying, "CSX appreciates the quick response of the local first responders. Safety is our highest priority as our teams work to recover the derailed cars and completely restore the area. The cause of the incident is under investigation."
