COLUMBUS, Ohio — Columbus police have issued a warrant for the arrest of a 22-year-old man in connection to the fatal shooting of a 13-year-old boy earlier this year in North Linden.
Mekhi Webster is charged with murder and remains at large, according to police.
Officers arrested 21-year-old Dock Parker last week and 21-year-old Jaivon Jones in June. Both are also charged with murder in the death of Angel Diaz.
On April 14, officers were called to Medina Avenue and East Hudson Street in North Linden after receiving a ShotSpotter alert from the area. Police did not find anything in the area at the time.
Nearly two hours later, officers were called to the 1300 block of East Hudson Street after receiving a report of a dead body. They found Diaz’s body with a gunshot wound in an alley. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
A Ford Escape was seen leaving the scene after the shooting happened. Franklin County Municipal Court records say that detectives determined that the SUV was driven by Jones. A witness told police that they saw gunshots coming from the vehicle.
Detectives found and contacted Jones who admitted to being the driver of the vehicle when shots were fired. Court records say he denied that the shot came from his SUV.
Court records state that Parker was inside the vehicle after detectives received cellphone location data from search warrants for an unrelated arrest.
Court records also state he was posing with Webster who had a handgun with a "switch" on it. Detectives said the gunshot recording on ShotSpotter was consistent with what a "switch" sounded like.
Parker confirmed that Webster was in the back seat with him at the time of the shooting, the affidavit says.
