The Delaware County Sheriff's Office says crews were dispatched just after 8 p.m. Saturday for a water rescue along Sunbury Road in Genoa Township.
Authorities say a teen jumped off a ledge into the water at Hoover Reservoir and did not come up for air. He was transported to an area hospital where he later died.
The Delaware County coroner identified the victim as 17-year-old Abdiaziz Omar.
According to Genoa Township Police, witnesses called for help and jumped in to search for the male.
Dive crews from Genoa Township Police and Fire along with Ohio Department of Natural Resources searched the water and were able to pull him out.
