MARION, Ohio — A 15-year-old student was arrested Friday after allegedly making bomb threats twice in one week to the Ridgedale Local School District.
On Sept. 9 and 13, the district near Marion received bomb threats via email. Deputies from the Marion County Sheriff’s Office and troopers from the Ohio State Highway Patrol led an extensive search of the campus, which houses grades K-12, on both days.
The district closed on Friday due to the threat.
After investigating, deputies arrested a Ridgedale student. The teen was charged with two counts each of inducing panic and making terroristic threats.
Sheriff Matt Bayles said, “The Marion County Sheriff’s Office takes any and all threats of violence to our schools, students and staff seriously and we will exhaust any and all available resources to ensure that those that threaten our schools will be held accountable.”
