GAHANNA, Ohio — A suspect was shot while deputies were serving an arrest warrant in Gahanna on Tuesday, according to the Franklin County Sheriff's Office.
The incident happened at a construction site at 825 Tech Center Drive near Morrison Road. The construction site is for the new Gahanna Municipal Compelx.
Deputy Chief Rick Minerd said deputies were with the SWAT unit were serving multiple misdemeanor arrest warrants on the suspect.
When deputies found the suspect, Minerd said there was some sort of conflict that escalated to at least one deputy firing their gun.
During the arrest, the suspect was shot. The sheriff's office did not specify how the suspect was shot. Minerd didn't provide any details on how many deputies fired their weapon, how many shots were fired or how many times the suspect was shot.
The suspect was taken to Mount Carmel East hospital in critical condition.
A gun was recovered from the scene.
The Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation has been notified of the incident.
