The shooting victim told police that they had previous altercations with him before the incident.

Police initially told 10TV on Tuesday that they came into contact with a “person of interest” around 4:30 p.m. in the area of John H Herrick Drive and Olentangy River Road, where police had set up a perimeter. That person then ran away from officers.

Police began actively searching for the person of interest, leading them to an area near Target on Olentangy River Road.

Columbus Division of Police confirmed just after 5:30 p.m. that the person of interest was Patridge.

Patridge has several outstanding warrants for his arrests, including one for the alleged abduction of a woman at gunpoint earlier this month, according to police. Dockets on the Franklin County Municipal Court’s website show that he is facing several charges from different incidents, including felonious assault, fleeing from an officer and abduction.

Anyone with information is encouraged to call University Police at 614-292-2121.
