MARION, Ohio — An 11-year-old boy was charged Friday with bringing a gun to a middle school in Marion.
According to the Marion Police Department, school staff at Grant Middle School was alerted that a student was in possession of what appeared to be a handgun.
The school resource officer investigated and found that it was in fact a handgun. The officer took possession of it without incident.
The student was arrested and charged with illegal possession of a dangerous weapon on school property and carrying a concealed weapon.
An investigation into how he came into possession of the gun is ongoing.
