COLUMBUS, Ohio — One person is dead and another is hurt after a crash in southeastern Franklin County, according to the Franklin County Sheriff's Office.
The crash involving two vehicles happened just before 11:30 a.m. at the corner of Chatterton and Fleet roads in Blacklick Estates.
According to the sheriff's office, a Honda Accord was traveling west on Chatterton Road at a high rate of speed when it struck a Honda Pilot that was turning east onto the road. The Pilot was hit in the side, causing it to roll, eject the driver and hit a fence before coming to a rest on a nearby sidewalk.
The driver of the Pilot was the only occupant in her vehicle. She was taken to Mount Carmel East in critical condition where she later died, the sheriff's office said.
The driver of the Accord, who was the only one in their vehicle, was trapped inside their vehicle following the crash. After first responders arrived, they were able to get the driver out and took them to Mount Carmel East with serious injuries.
The sheriff's office is investigating the incident.
East and westbound lanes on Chatterton Road, near Fleet Road, are currently shut down.
Anyone with information is asked to call the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office Investigation Unit at 614-525-6113.
