FRANKLIN COUNTY, Ohio — A man is facing charges after he allegedly punched the window of a school bus near west Columbus earlier this week while more than two dozen kids were onboard.
Deputies with the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office were called to Sturbridge and Beacon Hill roads in Prairie Township Tuesday afternoon.
The sheriff's office said a school bus driver for South-Western City Schools reported that she honked her horn at a driver who reportedly cut her off on the road.
The other driver, identified as 25-year-old Jared Dennis, confronted the school bus where 22 kids were on board. He allegedly punched one of the windows, causing it to break.
No injuries were reported.
Deputies later found Dennis and arrested him. He is charged with menacing, criminal damaging, disorderly conduct and reckless operation of a motor vehicle.
Dennis is expected to appear in Franklin County Municipal Court on Friday.
The South-Western City Schools District issued a statement condemning Dennis’ actions in Tuesday’s incident.
“When it comes to the safe transport of students, there is simply no place for such senseless aggression and heated exchanges directed towards our dedicated bus drivers, their buses or our students,” the statement read in part.
