COLUMBUS, Ohio — One person is seriously hurt after being hit by a vehicle in South Linden Friday morning, according to the Columbus Division of Police.
Police say the pedestrian was crossing the road southbound across East 17th Avenue at Hamilton Avenue in the crosswalk around 10:30 a.m. The pedestrian had the crosswalk signal for him to cross the road.
As the pedestrian was crossing East 17th Avenue, they were hit by an unknown vehicle traveling westbound.
The victim was taken to Grant Medical Center in critical condition.
The vehicle, described by police as a blue minivan, reportedly left the area with front-end damage following the crash. Police are now looking for the driver of the vehicle involved.
East 17th Avenue was closed while police investigated.
The Accident Investigation Unit responded to the scene and initiated an investigation.
