COLUMBUS, Ohio -- A Parsons Avenue Kroger store is back open one day after Columbus Public Health shut it down with an emergency order.
10TV was notified Thursday evening about the Kroger store closure at 1441 Parsons Avenue.
Columbus Public Health issued the store an emergency notice of violation and order to correct after they say inspections revealed a "clear and present danger to health."
The store was closed due to a list of infractions ranging from the presence of insects, rodents and other pests.
A spokesperson with Kroger says the south Columbus store was reopened Friday just before 6 p.m.
Columbus Public Health sent the following statement regarding the store's reopening:
"Kroger contacted us late this afternoon and said that they were ready to be re-inspected. The store was inspected and our team’s assessment was that Kroger has taken the appropriate steps to address the rodent infestation. They have contracted with a licensed pest control operator who will be making daily visits/treatments into the foreseeable future. All contaminated food products were also destroyed or removed and no current food items demonstrate any visible signs of rodent damage. While the store has passed inspection and reopened, we will be onsite monitoring the store daily until we are confident the problem has been fully taken care of. We also will be offering training with our vector and food programs to assist the store in protecting the health and safety of its customers."
