16-year-old dead, 2 men hospitalized after crash involving ATV in south Columbus

The crash happened at East Barthman Avenue and South 4th Street, located east of South High Street, around 2:25 p.m.

COLUMBUS, Ohio — A 16-year-old boy died and two adults were hospitalized following a crash involving an ATV on the city’s south side Tuesday afternoon, according to the Columbus Division of Police.

The crash happened at East Barthman Avenue and South 4th Street, located east of South High Street, around 2:25 p.m.

Police said a man was driving a Volkswagon Golf southbound on South 4th Street when a man driving an ATV eastbound from an alley struck the passenger side of the Volkswagon.

The driver of the ATV and the 16-year-old passenger, identified as Felix Estrada, were both ejected during the crash. Both the driver and juvenile were transported to Grant Medical Center in critical condition. Police announced on Thursday that Estrada died Tuesday night.

The driver of the Volkswagon was taken to Ohio State University East Hospital and their condition was described as stable.

No other details about the crash were released. The crash is under investigation.
