Small crane falls on vehicle in Upper Arlington; operator injured

Officials are asking members of the community to stay away from the area so crews can investigate the cause of the incident.

UPPER ARLINGTON, Ohio — Authorities are investigating after a small crane brought into an Upper Arlington construction site fell Monday afternoon, crushing a vehicle and sending the machine's operator to the hospital.

A spokesperson for the city of Upper Arlington said the crane was brought to the site of the Bob Crane Community Center, located near the Kingsdale Shopping Center, to assist with dismantling the main construction crane.

The small crane fell, causing damage to an unoccupied vehicle at the site. 

Upper Arlington Police Sgt. Bryan McKean said the operator was transported to Riverside Methodist Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Officials are asking members of the community to stay away from the area so crews can investigate the cause of the incident.
