ROSS COUNTY, Ohio — Several departments in Ross County are investigating a rash of overdoses.

The Ross County Health District and Chillicothe Police Department say they are experiencing an unusually high number of sudden overdoses.

According to the Ross County Coroner's Office, there were five suspected overdose deaths since the beginning of October, three of which happened this weekend.

Nine overdoses were treated and did not result in death, the coroner's office said.

According to the health district, this most likely represents the presence of a powerful opioid in the community. Anyone who ingests the product is at “extreme risk of death.”

10TV has reached out to Ross County officials for more information but has yet to hear back.

This comes a week after the Franklin County Coroner’s Office issued a warning after 10 overdose deaths were reported over a 26-hour span.
