REYNOLDSBURG, Ohio — A family was displaced early Friday morning after a fire broke out at their Reynoldsburg home.
Firefighters were called to Leah Lane around 2 a.m. for the fire. The Truro Township Fire Chief told 10TV that it appeared to have started near the garage and worked up to the second floor.
Four adults and three children were outside the house when first responders arrived. No injuries were reported.
The fire was mostly contained in one part of the home but had started spreading to an adjacent house when firefighters arrived. An official said it extended to the next-door siding.
Photos from the scene show the siding of the neighboring house melted away and the house where the fire started burned, revealing the framing.
The fire is under investigation. The American Red Cross is working with the affected family.
10TV's Carla Rogner spoke with a woman living at the home who said her family was having a birthday party for her 11-year-old child and they lit fireworks. She said teenagers ran water over the fireworks and threw them away in a trash can outside of the garage. The official cause of the fire has not yet been confirmed by the fire department.
The Violet Township Fire Department and Columbus and Whitehall Division of Fire assisted Truro Township Fire Department at the scene.
