Residents at mobile home park near Grove City say they've been without water for 3 days

Residents of the Pleasant Acres Mobile Home Park say they haven’t had water since Sunday.

GROVE CITY, Ohio — Temperatures across central Ohio continue to fall, some in the single digits. It’s times like this when things like heat and running water are vital.

Residents at the Pleasant Acres Mobile Home Park in Pleasant Township say they haven’t had water since Sunday.

We spoke with more than a dozen residents who said they hadn’t received any help from the property managers.

"I want somebody to come out here,” said Wendy Bowman, who lives in the mobile park home and currently doesn’t have water.  "I can't wash my clothes and my laundry's piling up, I can't cook because I have no water to cook with."

Another resident, Heath Ebright said his family has turned to using water jugs in the meantime.

"It's their job to fix it, it's right where it comes out of the ground,” said Ebright.

We reached out to the property managers and were told they had no updates for the media, then immediately hung up.

We're told by the Pleasant Township Trustees the mobile home park falls under the Department of Commerce.  We’ve reached out to the mayor’s office but are waiting to hear back.

Bowman said their cries for help will only get louder.

"Disgusting horrible, why can't they fix this right, so we don't have to worry about this,” she said. “I want people to know that we need help out here.”

The Ohio Department of Commerce gave the following statement:

"The Ohio Department of Commerce Division of Industrial Compliance is aware of a water outage that allegedly occurred on Sunday from approximately noon to 6 p.m. Our investigation found that, as a result of the pump house’s door being left open or partially ajar, the extremely cold weather caused the pump and/or other components to freeze, which caused the stoppage. Water service resumed that same day (Sunday) and we have not received any additional complaints regarding that issue. We are aware that some residents may still be without water service due to frozen pipes; however, those issues would be the result of residents who did not take adequate steps to protect those lines from the cold temperatures. As far as we are aware, there are no remaining issues with the park’s water system.

The park’s water system is a public water system (PWS), which is regulated by the Ohio EPA. Specifically, the system has an ID of OH2502912 and is subject to the primary jurisdiction and oversight of the Division of Drinking and Ground Waters in the Central District Office of the Ohio EPA. For any questions about whether this PWS is in compliance or has any history of issues, the best entity to ask is the Ohio EPA.”
