A pioneer in local broadcast engineering has passed away.
William "Bill" Orr died one month short of his 102nd birthday.
Bill helped shepherd this station through it's earliest days. He helped put 10TV on the air in 1949.
Bill saw it all during his 43-year career at WBNS. From black and white to color tv, remote broadcasting, electronic news gathering and construction of the more than 1,000-foot tall transmitter tower from which more than a half dozen radio stations - and another TV station - broadcast their signal.
Innovative and creative, the sales department at 10TV affectionately called Bill Orr, "the golden engineer."
