2 projects could bring nearly 200 housing units to Dublin

Crawford Hoying wants to add 42 townhome-style units to lots sitting directly behind its original Bridge Park development.

DUBLIN, Ohio — Two proposed housing projects are going before Dublin’s Planning and Zoning Commission Thursday evening.

One of the projects proposes expanding the Bridge Park development. Crawford Hoying wants to add 42 townhome-style units to lots sitting directly behind its original Bridge Park development. The Commission is doing an informal review of this project.

The other proposal is in its concept stage by another developer. It would be on a tract of land at the intersection of Avery and Woerner Temple roads. It proposes up to 150 residential units mixed with space for businesses.

10TV talked with people over the lunch hour at Bridge Park about what they would like to see come into Dublin.

“There’s a lot of restaurants, which is really cool because it’s such a vibe. But there’s not a lot of shopping centers around here,” said Lysin White, a Dublin resident. “It would be so convenient. It has the restaurants. It has the visual scenery. I’m like ‘I want to go shopping.’ Where is the shopping? They’ve got bars, they got PINS right here, so it’s real social.”

She said in order to go shopping for clothing, it requires a trip to the malls at Eason, Polaris or Tuttle or one of the shops along Sawmill.

Makayla King is a Grandview Heights resident but is familiar with the hustle and bustle of Bridge Park. She said it’s good to see more housing being added to the suburb, but there should be a focus on affordable housing. For her, a big point is the ability to get around without having to hop in a car.

“Walkability is so important. I think Columbus lacks that. Grandview does it well. Dublin does it better because it’s more congested. Expanding to the housing side and making more people come in and live here is a huge factor,” King said.

The Dublin Planning and Zoning Commission meets Thursday at 6:30 p.m. Both plans are going before the commission for discussion and will receive non-binding feedback.
