EAST PALESTINE, Ohio — After accepting an invitation last month, it was confirmed by White House officials that President Joe Biden will be visiting East Palestine next week.
On Friday, Feb. 16, President Biden will make his first appearance in the city since the derailment over one year ago.
According to an official press release from the White House, the President will meet with state and local officials to continue the conversation on how the community can be supported, as well as how Norfolk Southern should be held accountable.
White House officials say more details on the visit will be released soon.
Feb. 3 marked the one year anniversary of the train derailment that forced thousands of people from their homes. East Palestine residents still have lingering fears about potential health effects from the toxic chemicals that spilled in the crash.
