Police: 1 killed in northwest Columbus hit-and-run

One person is dead after being hit by a vehicle in northwest Columbus early Sunday morning.

COLUMBUS, Ohio — One person is dead after being hit by a vehicle on the city's northwest side early Sunday morning, according to the Columbus Division of Police.

Police said a pedestrian was walking in the area of West Granville Road and Sawmill Place Boulevard, just before 2:50 a.m., when a white 2013 or 2014 Scion xD traveling eastbound on Granville struck them. 

The vehicle did not stop, police said.

Medics pronounced the victim dead at the scene. The Franklin County Coroner's Office identified the victim as 22-year-old Richy Pierre.
