Police: Officer injured following southeast Columbus chase

A Columbus police officer was injured following a pursuit early Sunday morning.

COLUMBUS, Ohio — A police officer was injured following a pursuit on the city's southeast side Sunday morning, according to the Columbus Division of Police.

Officers were called to the intersection of Woodcrest and Myers roads around 7:25 a.m. on reports of a man threatening a woman with a gun.

Police said the suspect was spotted at Noe-Bixby Road and Coventry Drive at 7:41 a.m. A chase ensued and the officer was injured soon after.

Medics transported the officer to Mount Carmel East Hospital, where they are expected to be okay. The officer was not shot.

The identity of the suspect has not been released, but police said a warrant will be issued for their arrest.

The incident remains under investigation.
