COLUMBUS, Ohio — A man was charged with attempted murder after a shooting at a strip club on the city's northeast side early Saturday morning, according to the Columbus Division of Police.

Officers were called to the 1600 block of Karl Court just before 12:30 a.m. on reports of a shooting.

When officers arrived, they made contact with 48-year-old Shanon Santoro, who was detained by club security.

According to Franklin County Municipal Court records, Santoro had been escorted off the premises and later returned with a gun, pointing it at the head of a security guard.

Records say that the security guard attempted to remove the gun from Santoro's possession and in the struggle, Santoro fired the gun, striking a nearby wall.

The security guard was treated at the scene for a burn sustained from the muzzle flash on the gun, records state.

Santoro was also injured during the incident. He was taken to Riverside Methodist Hospital and is expected to be OK. Police did not disclose what caused the suspect’s injuries.

Investigating detectives charged Santoro with attempted murder.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Columbus Police Felony Assault Unit at 614-645-4141 or Central Ohio Crime Stoppers at 614-461-TIPS (8477).

Editor's Note: A previous version of this article stated the person injured at the club was shot. However, the cause of the victim's injuries has since been determined to be from the muzzle flash.
