Columbus police are asking for the public's help in identifying seven people investigators say are connected to the robbery of a Lyft driver in Columbus.

COLUMBUS, Ohio - Columbus police are asking for the public's help in identifying seven people investigators say are connected to the robbery of a Lyft driver in Columbus.

Police said a Lyft driver picked up seven males, believed to be teenagers, at Beatty Community Center on North Ohio Avenue around 9:40 p.m. on Nov. 16.

One of the suspects asked the driver if the driver was allowed to carry a concealed weapon, according to police. The driver said he did not have a gun.

When the driver was near North Harris Avenue and Grace Street, one of the suspects asked to be let out.

The driver pulled over and tried to help get them out of the vehicle when one of the suspects jumped into the driver's seat and drove off, according to police.

Police said another suspect kicked the driver while the vehicle was moving.

Police said the suspects crashed the vehicle into a parked car and left the scene.

Video from inside and outside the Lyft driver's vehicle was released Tuesday by police.

Anyone with information on the suspects is asked to call Det. Beard with the Columbus Division of Police at 614-645-2091 or bbeard@columbuspolice.org.
