Police looking for driver accused of killing three; victims' family asks for justice

Twenty-year-old Amal Mohamed, her sister Aniza Abdi Karim and their 15-year-old sister were in a car hit by Johnson on December 2, 2018.

The Franklin County Sheriff's Office is asking for the public's help finding a driver accused of killing three people.

Criminal charges say 32-year-old Corey Johnson of Columbus was drunk and high when he caused the horrific crash that killed two young sisters and a local hospital employee.

Twenty-year-old Amal Mohamed, her sister Aniza Abdi Karim and their 15-year-old sister were in a car hit by Johnson on December 2, 2018.

Amal and Aniza both died.

Monday their father Abdilahi Askar told 10TV Amal was a graduate of Centennial High School and was studying nursing.

Eighteen-year-old Aniza would have graduated from high school this June.

She dreamed of becoming a journalist.

"I cannot stay at my house," said Askar. "I'm going to move somewhere else. Because still I...when I go to bed, I just hear all the time, how they laugh, how they talk. We cannot forget it, what happened."

Askar grieves the loss of even the mundane moments with his daughters.

"We used to go together, eat. Stay at home, talk. At school homework, help them. So I really miss a lot. My two daughters."

Columbus Police say Corey Johnson was under the influence of marijuana and alcohol when he caused the crash on I-71.

His indictment says his blood alcohol level was .212- nearly three times the legal limit.

Thirty-four-year-old Gabriel Akomeah was in a third car and also killed.

He was a respiratory therapist at Grant Medical Center.

Johnson is charged with multiple counts of aggravated vehicular homicide and aggravated vehicular assault, but police don't know where he is.

"I need justice for this guy. He killed my two daughters," said Askar. "There's nothing I can do for them. I just need only justice. That's all I need."

10TV dug into Corey Johnson's driving record and found he has 18 years' worth of driving convictions, despite never having an Ohio driver's license.

He has twice been convicted of driving under the influence. There is an active warrant for his arrest.

Anyone with information on Johnson's location is asked to call Franklin County SWAT at 1-614-525-7928 (SWAT).
