Police seek help in solving homicide of 13-year-old boy in North Linden

Angel Salguero Diaz was shot and killed in the North Linden neighborhood on April 14, according to police.

COLUMBUS, Ohio — The Columbus Division of Police is seeking help in finding who is responsible for the shooting death of a 13-year-old boy in North Linden over the weekend.

Officers were called to the 1300 block of East Hudson Street on an unknown complaint around 10:15 p.m. on April 14. When they arrived, they found 13-year-old Angel Salguero Diaz with a gunshot wound. Officers rendered aid to him until medics arrived and pronounced him dead at the scene. Police originally said Diaz was 12 years old, but corrected the boy's age to 13 on Thursday.

Detectives are also hoping to locate the occupants of a 2008-2012 Ford Escape, according to a social media post.

Police believe the occupants in the vehicle witnessed events related to the homicide. Detectives want to speak to them regarding what they may have seen.

Police are also asking anyone in the neighborhood with cameras to check their video between the times of 8:15 p.m. and 10:15 p.m. to see if they captured anything they think may be related.
