Police identify man killed in north Columbus shooting

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Columbus police say one person is dead after a shooting that happened Sunday night on the city's north side.

Officers responded to the 800 block of East 17th Avenue around 11 p.m. That's where officers say they found 25-year-old Jimmi Simpson inside a vehicle suffering from an apparent gunshot wound where he later died.

According to authorities, there was a second victim who is not being identified at this time who was uninjured.

The suspect then fled the scene.

Detectives discovered this residence was an AirBNB, but detectives say they are still looking into what role that plays in this investigation.
