Police: 2 injured in downtown Columbus crash

Emergency responders were called to the area of Long Street and North 3rd Street around 3:10 p.m.

COLUMBUS – Two people were taken to the hospital after a crash on Long Street in downtown Columbus Friday afternoon.

Emergency responders were called to the area of Long Street and North 3rd Street around 3:10 p.m.

Police said they pulled someone over for a traffic stop near McKinley Avenue and North Central Avenue.

The driver and passenger refused to get out of the vehicle and the driver drove away, according to police.

Police said the driver hit a street sign and a building near Long Street and Lazelle Street.

The building is believed to be vacant.

The driver and passenger were taken to Grant Medical Center with unknown injuries.

Long Street is closed in the area.

Police said a representative from the city will inspect the building.
