Police: 18-year-old arrested in connection to south Columbus shooting

The Columbus Division of Police have identified 18-year-old Tyrek McClain as a suspect in a Friday evening shooting.

COLUMBUS, Ohio — An 18-year-old man has been arrested in connection to a shooting that left a juvenile seriously injured in south Columbus Friday night, according to the Columbus Division of Police.

Officers were called to the 500 block of Cline Street, near South High School, just after 5:20 p.m. on reports of a shooting. When officers arrived, they found a juvenile suffering from a gunshot wound.

The victim was transported to Grant Medical Center in critical condition, but police said they are expected to survive their injuries.

Police have identified the suspect as 18-year-old Tyrek McClain. McClain has been charged with felonious assault and is currently being held at the Franklin County Jail.
