Police: 1 seriously hurt in stabbing on COTA bus in east Columbus

Officers were called to the intersection of East Main Street and South Chesterfield Avenue just before 7 a.m. Saturday on reports of a stabbing.

COLUMBUS, Ohio — One person is critically injured after a stabbing on a COTA bus in east Columbus, according to the Columbus Division of Police.

Officers were called to the intersection of East Main Street and South Chesterfield Road just after 7 a.m. Saturday on reports of a stabbing.

When officers arrived, they found a woman suffering from a stab wound to the abdomen. 

The woman was taken to Grant Medical Center in critical condition. 

Witnesses at the scene said the woman was stabbed by another woman during a fight on the bus.

Police say the suspect fled on foot. She was described as wearing a blue jacket with a face mask.
