COLUMBUS, Ohio — The Columbus Division of Police has identified the victim who was fatally shot outside of an after-hours club on the city’s southeast side Sunday morning.
Officers were called to the 1300 block of Beechwood Road around 5:20 a.m. on reports of a shooting. When they arrived, officers found 39-year-old Dante Gamble with a gunshot wound, according to police.
He was taken to Mount Carmel East and pronounced dead at 6 a.m.
Police said Gamble was leaving an after-hours club in the area and was in the parking lot, appearing to prepare to leave when he was hit by gunfire.
After the shooting, a few patrons of the club attempted to help Gamble and police said other patrons could be seen on video leaving before the arrival of officers.
Anyone who has information or was present at the time and has not yet been interviewed by a detective is asked to call Det. Johnson at 614-955-0020.
Police have not yet released any information on a possible suspect.
