Chief: 45-year-old man dies after house fire in Plain City

Plain City Police Chief Dale McKee did not say how the fire may have started.

PLAIN CITY, Ohio — A man is dead after a house fire in Plain City on Tuesday.

Just before 6:30 a.m., firefighters with the Pleasant Valley Fire Department were called to the 300 block of Bigelow Avenue near West Main Street for a reported fire. The fire department arrived and saw smoke coming from the building.

Plain City Police Chief Dale McKee told 10TV that firefighters checked the home and found a man, identified as 45-year-old Benjamin Jenkins unresponsive in the living room. They brought him outside and the crew performed CPR.

Jenkins was later pronounced dead.

The Jerome Township and Washington Township fire departments assisted with the scene.

McKee did not say how the fire may have started.
