Pickerington schools plan to start on hybrid schedule of in-person, virtual learning

Pickerington Local School District has released its "Flexible Learning 2.0" plan.

Pickerington Local School District has released its "Flexible Learning 2.0" plan based on the school board's recommendation.

In the proposed plan, the district has four levels: Green, Yellow, Orange and Red.

In the Yellow level, which is where the school year will start, students will be placed into cohorts by households for two days in school and three days of virtual learning.

Cohort A would attend school in-person Monday-Tuesday and virtually Wednesday-Friday. Cohort B would be virtual Monday-Wednesday and in-person Thursday-Friday.

In addition to the "Flexible Learning 2.0" plan, parents have the option to enroll their children into the "Virtual Learning Academy" where learning would be 100% virtual.

The district will require all students and staff to wear masks including on the bus and in the building. We are told cleaning will be done throughout the day, focusing on popular touchpoints.

Board members said there will be another meeting this week to look at the school calendar. They hope to confirm the official start date to parents this week.
