An elementary school principal in Pickerington will serve a 10-day suspension without pay for violating the district's social media policy, according to a discipline agreement with the school board.
Ruth Stickel, the principal at Fairfield Elementary, made posts on her personal account that were political in nature.
Stickel and the board agreed on the discipline after an investigation by the district.
Stickel will serve the suspension over ten Wednesdays in January, February and March next year.
A written reprimand will also be removed from Stickel's personnel file and be replaced by the disciplinary agreement.
The agreement also states Stickel needs to undergo training on professional behavior while using social media and training on racial sensitivity, diversity and inclusion.
Stickel released the following statement to 10TV earlier this year.
"While these posts and/or comments were not on my personal timeline, I did make comments on other posts that others may see as offensive, and for that I am sorry and take responsibility. In no way do any of these reflect my feelings toward the students or the Pickerington community."
This is the second social media incident involving the district this year. An assistant principal in the Pickerington Local School District had her promotion to principal rescinded after a social media post on her personal Facebook page showed profane language critical of police.
